Urban Ashes

UTR-WebmasterEpisode 902

Permanently Closed

It’s always sad when we find out that a business we featured on the show has closed. It’s like we lost a friend. Please remember that while UTR episodes are timeless, the people, places and things are not. Some of the many places we feature on this website may have changed, moved or simply ceased to be. We can’t stress enough that you always need to check ahead and contact any of these places before setting out to visit them. It could save you a long drive there, and a very frustrating and disappointing drive home.

You know, we all make mistakes (I’ve made plenty) … and we all deserve a second chance (or three or four) … Well, here’s a place that’s reclaiming wood … reclaiming lives … and making the world a much better place.

I’m talking about Urban Ashes in Saline … a picture frame manufacturer and custom furniture builder that opened its doors to former prisoners … gave them a way to survive and thrive … and is now becoming know around the world.

In 2009 Paul Hickman had a vision to stop wasting resources … and the two he picked were wood and people.

Ya know, forgiveness is a wonderful thing … but combine it with a really cool table made from reclaimed and beautifully restored wood … and you’ve got a great place to break bread with ‘any’ and ‘all’ kinds of people. And lets face it … isn’t that the whole point.
