The Flour Uprising is a funky little bakery with a big heart and tons of stuff to make you feel good inside. The difference is they use locally grown, all organic ingredients. So bye, bye guilt… and hello happiness.
Annette Pratt blends happy with healthy every single day. I asked her how she came up with the name, and she told me that her mission was to start a bakery that was different, better, healthier and action oriented. She’s done just that by offering a wide selection of organic, whole wheat and gluten free fun things to eat. She’s got something great there for everyone.
Annette is perhaps most famous for making something that has become the official sweet comfort food of Mt. Pleasant. It’s called a “Whoopie Pie,” and it’s kind of like a cross between a sandwich cookie and a cupcake. It’s two small cakes with the creamy filling in the middle instead of on top. I actually made some with her and made a huge mess, but man were they good. Now I know why everyone in Mt. Pleasant loves these wonderful little things.
If you’ve got a sweet tooth, bring it and the rest of your teeth to the Flour Uprising. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again. It don’t get none, not, no better. It’s a triple negative… it works.
