We came to Grand Rapids to experience a building called The B.O.B. It’s a classic 70,000-square-foot four-story red-brick building that was built in 1903 as Judson’s Grocery Warehouse. It stood vacant for decades and was destined for the wrecking ball until a local group called The Gilmore Collection transformed it into a cool complex that features everything you need for a great time in the city. B.O.B. stands for “Big Old Building,” and it sits right in the heart of downtown. You’ll find great restaurants, bars, night clubs, entertainment venues and meeting spaces all rolled into one very cool environment. The range of establishments is amazing, and there’s something there for everyone.
The B.O.B. creates a great space where urbanites can relax, visit, enjoy live music, have an elegant dinner, a casual bite or just unwind from the day. It’s a great place to connect with other people who live and work downtown. It’s also a great place to check out even if you’re just visiting. We had a blast.
A ton of young people are reconnecting with Grand Rapids and living in the city. The B.O.B. creates a real sense of place and community for the people who live there, and that’s important. When the sun goes down, The B.O.B. comes alive with the beat of the big city. If you haven’t been to Grand Rapids in a long time, it’s time for you to go.
