The first of the five classic slider diners we visited was the iconic Telway. This little white tile monument has been a landmark in Madison Heights for over half a century. Owner Allen Owen’s dad opened the Telway in 1944, so Allen literally grew up in this place. I asked him what made his sliders so good, and he simply said, “The spices.”
We tried them. Tried a few more. Tried a few more and were on our way. But I have to tell you, the Telway was just what we expected.
