After settling in, we headed to a place right in the heart of town. Actually it’s two places. Up front it’s Symons General Store, and in back it’s an incredible gourmet restaurant and wine cellar called Chandler’s.
Symons is the real deal. It’s an authentic little general store that’ll totally take you back to a time when people came to shops like this to get almost everything they needed. It also sits in one of the first brick buildings built in Petoskey. Symons fills its shelves with locally sourced foods, and the artisanal cheese selection is one of the best you’ll find anywhere.
