Smokin’ Mad Love is owned by Blair Butterworth and her husband Jon Butler, and their energy and ideas are putting Grand Haven on the map for long-boarders around the world.
If you’re wondering what a long board is, it’s simply a skateboard that’s longer and made less for tricks and more for cruising and transportation. They’re being used more and more by all kinds of people as a fun and fit way to get around. Because these boards are longer, your center of gravity is lower, making them easier and safer to ride.
Blair and Jon are designing and making their boards right in Grand Haven and now shipping them around the world. They also have long boarding clubs with participants from age six to sixty-six, so this sport truly is for almost everyone.
If you’re wondering where the name came from, “I smokin’ mad love you” is what Blair and Jon would affectionately say to one another. So with the passion they have for each other, what they do and where they live, it just seemed like a natural choice. I have to tell you, I don’t think we’ve ever met people who simply love life more than these two. Their enthusiasm and positive energy really help connect and motivate their entire neighborhood. They really are a priceless part of that community.
