Lunchtime at Kerrytown offers a number of really good options, but the one that hooked me and the crew was Monahan’s Seafood Market. For more than thirty years now, Mike and Lisa Monahan have been selling and preparing fresh seafood for all of Ann Arbor to enjoy… and now, for the UTR film crew. You can buy fresh fish to go, get a quick carryout meal or sit, relax and enjoy any one of their aquatic entrees.
Their philosophy at Monahan’s is pretty simple: fresh, fresh, fresh. They don’t bring in pre-cut filets; they buy whole fish, cut them up fresh and prepare their seafood dishes the old fashioned way. I had a Vietnamese bluefish sandwich for lunch and the flavors were incredible.
Ann Arbor is the perfect place for Mike and Lisa to be doing their thing. The food scene there is way ahead of the curve. It’s truly a foodie’s paradise. I was trying to think of a clever way to say it, but I’ll just say it. If you love fresh seafood that’s expertly and creatively prepared, Monahan’s Seafood Market is worth the drive to Ann Arbor and a trip to Kerrytown Market. If you already live in Ann Arbor… bonus!
