Speaking of restaurants, the next part of our trip took us south to the town of Sawyer and an awesome little restaurant called Mesa Luna (formerly The Soe Café). The mantra at Mesa Luna is, “Local people, using local produce, to make honest food.”
When we ate there Executive Chef Chad Miller was the heart and soul of this great place, and he worked continually to craft a great seasonal menu featuring the best Michigan has to offer. The restaurant works directly with local brewers, wine producers, farmers and artisan food producers to make the experience there exceptional.
There’s an old saying that “what grows together, goes together,” and it rings true every day at Mesa Luna. Watching Chef Chad and his crew make food magic in the kitchen left no doubt why this is a local favorite. Make sure to call ahead before visiting Mesa Luna. Depending on the season, their hours of operation can be quite abbreviated.
