We stopped and had lunch at a great place called Karl’s Cuisine. It’s a gourmet restaurant that the locals absolutely swear by. Karl and Paula Nelson have put their heart and soul into this place, and you can really taste it. They serve comfort food that’s good for you because it’s made with fresh, local ingredients. Even the desserts are to die for.
For years Karl and Paula dreamed of having their own gourmet restaurant, and now that dream has come true in a big way. From incredible salads and sandwiches to some dinner entrees that will knock your wool U.P. socks off, these two are doing it right. They’re on a first name basis with the local farmers, and they take extreme pride in everything they serve.
Another great thing about the restaurant is that it’s really close to the Soo Locks. So while you’re enjoying your meal, you can watch the giant ships going up and down in the locks. Great views and even better chews with Karl’s Cuisine.
