“Up a Creek….with a bicycle”
Story Behind the Name
You expected us to be up a creek without a paddle…but we used a bike.
Show Overview
This week on UTR we’re back in Battle Creek for some useable bikes you can borrow, Umami Ramen and the Southern Exposure Herb Farm. Then we bounce over to Bay City for a visit to Retro Attics, St. Laurent Brothers Candy and the Bay City Wine Walk.
Battle Creek
You know … a lot of cities have special events and gatherings for the people who live there because it helps create a sense of place and community. And this one’s got the word “wine” in it … I’m sold !!!
Are you one of those torn individuals who loves the beauty and serenity of nature … but also like the excitement and energy of urban living. Well, here’s a Michigan city that balances both beautifully.
Over the years Battle Creek has done a commendable job of blending its green spaces and business places. The river runs right through the center of the city, and it’s lined with plenty of popular pocket parks where people can connect, relax and play. It’s a big city, that’s softened with beautiful natural surroundings.
Battle Creek is also going through a bit of a renaissance right now with tons of unique new restaurants and stores surfacing. People are moving downtown … calling it their own … and making it a great place to put down roots … set up shop and create an awesome future.
Bay City
Standup: On UTR we love cities that are moving forward, staying connected to their past … and constantly rediscovering themselves.
And in Bay City, you’ve got a trifecta of talented people, tasty tempting treats, and a town turning its incredible history into a vibrant and exciting future. From its award winning waterfront and exploding food scene … to the countless people reconnecting with its core … Bay City … was, “and is again” a great place to live, work, play and make our mark. Even if your name isn’t Mark!
Bay City is located in the middle on your mitt … right where you thumb meets your index finger. Just make sure you’re using your right hand … right?
