“Thunder Road”
Story Behind the Name
It’s our Road Trip show and Woodward is such an iconic stretch of highway that we needed an Iconic name. Springsteen’s Thunder Road is an epic journey of a song and so is this episode. Turn it up then roll down the window and let the wind blow back your hair.

Woodward Road Trip
Welcome to another one of our special edition UTR “Road Trip” adventures … where we pick a cool Michigan road … drive down it … and see what cool stuff we uncover. This time … we’re gonna cruise Woodward Avenue. Why … we’ll … because for gosh sakes … it’s Woodard.
Woodward Avenue is one of the most iconic drives in all of America. It’s been designated an Automotive Heritage Trail, an All American Road, a Pure Michigan Byway, and has had a rich and romantic love affair with the car and all the towns it touches for well over 100 years. Almost anything you want, need or even crave you’ll find along its 21.5 mile stretch. This is one of the few roads with a rep, and you instantly become cooler, just by driving on it.
Woodward Ave. (also known as Motor City Main Street) is in Southeast Michigan and runs from Downtown Detroit, northwest … all the way out to the city of Pontiac.
