In Michigan, we have more great beach towns than you can shake a sand filled shoe at, so we decided to show you two more great ones. First we head to beautiful Pentwater and stay at a B&B with extra walls … that’s extra nice. We even show you how to learn a new skill with new friends, and a great place to eat and relax that will satisfy “all” your senses. Then we travel up the coast to Majestic Manistee for a flight that will get you high on this great town. We also show you how some enlightened folks are using an old iron works to put a new spin on eating healthy. And, last but not least, we take you to a historic hotel that even has its own happy place right in the basement. Oh yea … we’ll even show you the beaches in these towns. Two more great places to eat, stay and play on Under the Radar Michigan.
Pentwater
Pentwater is a west Michigan beach community that ‘s absolutely perfect for worshiping the water … It’s got a world class marina (with some boats that could probably sail around it) … a beautiful Michigan white sand beach with plenty of soft sand to take home in your shoes … and lots of happy friendly folks who’ll be thrilled when you get here… and let’s not forget the actual town … it’s a classic resort community that has everything you need to reduce your speed and get you back in touch with what’ important … you.
Manistee
When you drive into Manistee … you’ll probably have the same reaction I had …
WOW!!!
This is a classic Michigan city with incredible architecture that was built with tons of lumber money back in the 1800’s. In the year 1900, Manistee actually had more millionaires per capita than any other city in the entire US. And the Victorian homes and churches here will inspire you to walk through its beautiful neighborhoods.
Now, the city is preserving it’s illustrious past and moving into a fascinating future with young and daring entrepreneurs who are helping shape Michigan’s bright and prosperous future.
Manistee is located just 45 minutes north of Pentwater on US-31 … right on the shores of Lake Michigan. How convenient!
Manistee is also a great beach and boating community that has all the aquatic accouterments you need to enjoy the great Lake Michigan. So, you can soak your soul in the sand and surf … or tie up your floating friend … and still enjoy some great city life. If you’re high on classic Michigan living … you might even want to live here.
