1346 Bluff St., Muskegon, MI 49441
Next, we visited something I had no idea was even in Michigan, let alone Muskegon. It’s the USS Silversides, an authentic World War II submarine that’s permanently docked at the Great Lakes Naval Memorial and Museum. It’s a great piece of history you can explore on your own, take a guided tour of or if you call ahead, even arrange to spend the night on. How cool is that!
It’s amazing to me that over ninety men lived, worked, ate and slept in such a confined space. After seeing submarines in movies all my life, it was so fascinating to actually be inside one. It really gives you a true appreciation of the men who served on these submarines during World War II.
If you’re looking for something different, cool, fun and educational to do, the USS Silversides is right in Muskegon. It’s an experience I guarantee you won’t forget.
