If you like pizza topped with history, community and special sauce, you’re gonna love Turkey’s. Even though Turkey’s Café is known for their excellent pizza, they also serve a ton of other great edibles. It’s where the locals go to connect and share good food.

Turkey’s is also known for how much owner Jeff Graham is connected to this great community. In 1903 his grandfather came to Harbor Springs fresh out of the University of Michigan and opened a dentist office, and today the Graham family continues to serve this community. In Jeff’s case, it’s with great-tasting pizzas. Jeff opened Turkey’s in 1975 and hasn’t looked back since.

If you’re wondering where the name came from, when Jeff played football back in the day at Harbor Springs High School, he got two sprained ankles in one week. The coach yelled out to him on the field, “Hey, you’re walking like a turkey out there,” and you know high school kids; the name stuck.

Unlike a lot of the businesses in a resort community, Turkey’s is open year round, and it’s one of those wonderfully versatile places that is many things to many people. It’s a pizzeria, sub shop, café, coffee shop, and in the evenings it even becomes a pub. The pizza there really is excellent, and they bake all their own bread daily. The day we were there, Jeff whipped up one of his famous “everything” pizzas. Mmmmmm, everything!

You’re gonna like Turkey’s because it’s a comfortable place with good food served by longtime locals who love where they live. And if anyone is helping to create a sense of place in the community, it’s Jeff. Besides, what’s not to love about a pizza place called Turkey’s?
