The House of Ludington is a landmark that’s been a part of Escanaba’s landscape for well over a century. This historic inn has hosted royalty, celebrities and dignitaries dating way back to the middle 1800s. Suzelle Eisenberger and her husband Ed now own the inn and are lovingly (and single handedly) bringing this icon back to its glory days, one room at a time.

The building almost looks like a castle and has been known for years as the Great White Castle of the North. If you do spend a day or two there, Suzelle and Ed can tell you many fascinating stories about the house and the illustrious people who have stayed there.

When we visited, they were still deep into parts of the renovation, so best to call ahead and see what is available. But the House of Ludington is an extraordinary landmark in Escanaba and is totally worth a visit and more research. Discovery is half the fun!
