If you’re a fan of art that has both form and function, I’ve got a couple of heavy metal dudes you just have to meet. Eric Nordin and his brother Isreal are brothers bound by birth, business and their never-ending mission to create some of the coolest and most unique heavy metal art on the planet. They own and ARE The Detroit Design Center.

The Nordin brothers grew up working in an industrial steel plant, wondering all the while what else these steel objects could become. Now their art is on display in some of the most prestigious homes, businesses and public spaces in Detroit. These two raw and real guys work with their clients to create some of the most refined, one-of-a-kind creations you’ll ever experience.

In 1999, the Nordins started the Detroit Design Center in order to create a hub where people could find things for their homes and businesses that they couldn’t find anywhere else. They call themselves “artists that create objects for spaces,” and together they create fine art and functional objects with steel, glass, wood, stone and other mediums. Eric and Isreal’s styles and approach to their art are totally different. So, together they push, pull, collaborate and negotiate with each other to come up with fine art you just have to see to believe.

Eric and Isreal really do personify the comeback of Detroit. They’re two young guys expressing themselves and building a dream in a landscape that right now presents a ton of opportunity for people willing to be part of the renaissance. More world class art and innovation made right here in Michigan.
