Have you ever had a meal that was so good, you felt like you literally went to a cook’s house for dinner? Well, guess what? We did! That’s because it’s a restaurant called The Cooks’ House, and not only is it actually in a house, this funky restaurant is serving some of the best food you’ll find this side of the Milky Way. Chef Eric Patterson, his wife Teresa and Chef Jennifer Blakeslee have created an intimate dining experience that will make you feel like you’re part of their foodie family. And when I say intimate, I mean intimate. This cozy little eatery only seats about twenty-five, so it really is like you’re sitting in someone’s hip little home having supper. It’s casual, comfortable and the perfect place to meet other people who appreciate great food.

In all the conversations I’ve had with chefs and restaurant owners across the state, I don’t think I’ve ever met people more passionate and dedicated to their craft, their staff or their patrons. Every single person we encountered there was genuine and the real deal. They source locally, cook seasonally and have a great philosophy about how they create their meals. They don’t just think up a dish and then try to find ingredients for it. They take whatever fresh ingredients are available and create something around them. It really is art in the kitchen.

Well one dish and glass led to another, and before we knew it, we were full, filled with great stories and already planning our return. If you want a great Michigan-made meal, just walk right into The Cook’s House. You don’t even have to knock!
