The first thing we wanted to do was get a lay of the “sand,” as it were, so we headed over to Mac Wood’s Dune Rides. This is a great way to see some of the coolest dunes this side of the moon. The Wood family’s been doing these rides for four generations now, and there’s no other experience in the sand quite like it. You take off into the dunes with a tour guide and about twelve of your new best friends and go for an action-packed educational thrill-ride in the sand.
I tell ya, our Mac Woods adventure was like a roller coaster ride combined with some of the best views in Michigan. Add in all the fascinating facts and good humor you get from your tour guide, and you’ve got the makings of a pretty awesome Michigan experience.
When the ride was over, not only did I learn a ton about the dunes, my shoes were full of sand and my stomach hurt from laughing so much. It’s good old fashioned family fun, and it’s fun like this that makes the best vacation memories. Just don’t forget who told you about it.
