Last but not least, Ismael took us to a very cool place that made me feel like a kid again. Green Brain Comics is a crazy, fun place that offers new and classic comics from around the world, and owners Dan and Katie Merritt are the superheroes that make it all happen. From Archie and Captain America to heroes and villains you haven’t even heard of yet, it’s all at Green Brain.
Comic books have never gone away because of their unique ability to tell a quick, colorful and dynamic story that visually involves the reader. They’re good for young minds and old. And speaking of young minds, comics are also a great way to get kids excited about and engaged in the process of reading. Thanks to Superman, Spiderman and the Fantastic Four, I’m a proficient reader today.
Dan and Katie explained that they continue to love this medium because of the fantasy, literacy and emotional connectivity it gives the reader. It’s a great and healthy way to escape and dream, if only for a few minutes.
