7200 Main St., Mackinac Island, MI 49757
We were staying on the island for a couple days, so the next stop was for provisions, and for that we went to America’s oldest family-owned grocery store, Doud’s Market. It’s right on Main Street, and they’ve got everything your appetite needs for an island stay. The market has been in continuous operation since 1884 and it’s where the islanders go for what they need. While you’re there, take a look at some of the old photos hanging on the walls. They’ll give you a real sense of the history of this classic little market. We found everything we were looking for to survive and then some. And you know me, the “then some” is my favorite stuff.
