The main reason we went to K’zoo was to explore a place just south of town. It’s called the Air Zoo, and it’s a one-of-a-kind destination. It’s an absolutely mind-blowing aviation museum that was voted the best place to take someone who’s visiting Michigan. Don’t let the word “museum” scare you away. This just might be one of the funnest places I’ve ever been.

The Air Zoo is an experience like you’ve never had before. They have over fifty rare and historical aircraft, full motion flight simulators and a breathtaking 4-D theatre that takes you right back to WWII. There are indoor amusement park rides, and the Guinness World Record™ largest indoor mural ever painted is located there (and believe it or not, it was painted by one person).

One of my favorite rides was the 3-D Space Shuttle Ride. It’s a simulator where you blast off from Planet Earth and travel all the way up to the International Space Station. The experience was incredible and oh-so lifelike. After a successful landing, I decided to try one of the full-motion flight simulators. It’s like you’re really flying, and you can pick from a number of different airplanes. You know me; I picked the fastest.

The 4-D theater is a total trip on the senses. You get to see, smell, hear and even feel what it was like to fly a bombing mission during World War II. This experience was outstanding. The Air Zoo is a great place to take the family. You’ll get lost in both the history and the future of flight. You’ll also learn a ton along the way. The Air Zoo and K’zoo were both well worth the trip.
